Motivational Mahoganies

Motivational Mahoganies is a new series to on blog, where I highlight some truly inspirational black women.

Here's how Urban Dictionary defines "Mahogany"
"Used in the term of a name, a female who is loud, most people see her having a attitude, diva, but she is mostly pretty, people rarely don't like her, she's outgoing and stubborn. If you don't like a Mahogany then its her attitude. They are great friends, but when you make them mad they make your life a living hell."

What I get from this definition is that a mahogany woman is strong and knows what she wants in life. She is not afraid to speak her mind, and she lights up a room. Like most people, she has her flaws, but who in this world is perfect?

I hope these installments can provide some inspiration to you all as my audience, and shed some light on women who deserve accolades!

LUSH Oatfix Fresh Face Mask

The If you have seen my Black Friday, you already know that I picked up LUSH's
Oatfix Fresh Face Mask. This mask is definitely a game changer! I have had my eyes on this mask for a while not, because I knew that oatmeal is great for your body, I wanted to see how good it would be for the skin.

According to LUSH's website, "sensitive, dry or irritated faces love Oatifix for its calming oats, softening mashed banana and ground almonds to slough away flaky skin."

Oatifix can be used year-round on sensitive, dry skin in need of nourishment to keep it flexible and soft.

Some of the mask's key ingredients include natural oats, bananas, almonds, and vanilla. There are many other ingredients in this product that all work together to keep your skin healthy!

How to use:
(Derived from LUSH website)
Cleanse your face and pat dry. Smooth a good dollop of Fresh Face Mask over your entire face, making sure to avoid the eyes and mouth. Leave the mask on for about ten minutes (do not let the mask dry completely). Now is a good time to read the latest LUSH Times! …And finally, wash off with warm water and follow with your favorite toner and moisturizer.

My Christmas List 2015

I can't believe that it's almost Christmas time already. It seems like just yesterday when we brought in the new year (2015). I always look forward to the holidays, because I love being around my family and I love the music and decorations. I'm 23 now, and Christmas has shifted to being more for the children in the family, which is no problem at all, because I never ask for too much. This year, however, I have had my eye on a few things that I would love to have in my closet and on my body! Here are the items I have been lusting over!

New in Skincare: The Body Shop Seaweed Collection

I recently got my hands on this amazing The Body Shop Seaweed skincare set, and I am super excited to share it with you all! I have been really into skincare and getting my skin back to the way it was in my teenage years.

This set comes with 4 products that are sure to "balance your skin and control shine with TSA-approved Seaweed favorites featuring wild-harvested seaweed from Ireland." You get a Deep cleansing facial wash, clarifying toner, night treatment, and day cream.

The Body Shop team states, "Our wild-harvested seaweed comes from our fantastic Community Trade partner in Ireland, the Roaring Water Bay Seaweed Cooperative. Bladderwack is a type of brown seaweed that grows on the northern Atlantic and Baltic coasts of Europe. It has the largest trace mineral content of any known single source of seaweed and contains high levels of iodine, antioxidants and vitamin B. Because it is grown without chemicals or fertilizers, it is safe to use on any skin type or at any age to help control shine."

What I love most about this set is that it is travel friendly, in that it comes in a cute bag. This makes it super easy to pack, rather than rummaging through your cabinet.

I'm looking forward to my results with this product, and I will definitely keep you all updated!

My Natural Hair Necessities: Aloe Vera Juice

I recently read an article on Curly Nikki’s blog, where she discusses the reasons Why YouShould add Aloe Vera Juice to Your Routine, and I knew that I had to highlight this product on my Natural Hair Necessities series on my blog! I have been using aloe vera juice on may hair for over a year now, and I have noticed a substantial difference in my hair. My hair is shinier and hydrated.
"Aloe Vera is a succulent cacti plant species that has spikey leaves and a thick fleshy stem. It is the pulp of the plant (the sap) that contains the juice and gel and these have been used for medicinal, cosmetic and health purposes throughout time due to the fact that they contain antioxidants, antibiotics and antifungal properties. They also have a vast amount of vitamins and minerals such as Vitamins A, B1, B2, B6, C, E, Calcium, folic acid and amino acids to name a few." (via Curly Nikki)

Curly Nikki’s article states that there are many benefits to using aloe vera juice in your hair, which are:
• Promote hair growth
• Moisturize the hair due to it being a humectant
• Restore the natural pH balance of the hair and scalp
• Reduce dandruff
• Naturally condition the hair
• Reduce hair shed
• Promote hair shine
• Help heal an irritated, dry, itchy scalp
In this picture, you can see that my hair is very full and healthy. That is because of my usage of aloe vera juice on a consistent basis.

I love what aloe vera juice does for my hair, and that is why it is a natural hair necessity!

Monthly Outfit Inspirations: N O V E M B E R

For the month of November, I've decided to take things to a new level. I wanted to make things a little bit dressier and layered. Although the weather down here has not declined, I think these pieces are sure to keep you warm at night and breezy during the day. What I love about these outfits is that you can add or remove layers depending on the climate or the occasion.

The holidays are also coming up, and these outfits are great choices for parties and family gatherings. I would definitely be the star of the show while wearing one of these dressy numbers.

The websites I visited for this month’s outfit inspirations are Topshop, Forever 21, and Asos. I love these sites, because they don’t play it safe when it comes to fashion. I believe that is exactly what style is all about. You should feel confident in your clothing, because you live your life in it!

Black and Burgundy

This past Thursday was my birthday, and this year I turned 23. I decided to bring my Jordan year in with style and elegance. I knew I wanted to go out to eat at Ichiban, a hibachi restaurant, with my friends, and since I was the birthday girl, I had to be dressed to kill! Earlier in the day I went to the mall and picked up a few things, including this burgundy shoulder bag, I just so happened to match my shoes, which were on my birthday wishlist. I wanted to wear these two pieces together without making them clash with one another, so I accompanied the purse and shoes with an all black outfit and simple gold jewelry.
Jacket: H&M
Mesh top: Forever 21
Skirt: Old Navy
Shoes: H&M
Purse: Old Navy
Necklace: Forever 21
Watch: Michael Kors (blogpost)

Kayaking on Wakulla River Photo Diary

This past weekend I did something that I've never done before in my life! I went kayaking with my best friend on the Wakulla River (watch the vlog here). This experience was exciting, and it was great to enjoy the outdoors rather than sit on social media all day. The river was so peaceful as well as the wildlife. I was a little nervous at first, because I'm not the best swimmer and there were manatees in the river, but all of my speculations were relived once I was on the river. I knew that I wanted to participate in a CORE Outdoors activity before I graduated just to say that I did it, and to not leave my school with regrets. This trip was the perfect activity for me to participate in, because I noticed that it was stress relieving. This was just what I needed despite my hectic and demanding schedule. I'm going to let the photos speak for themselves!
