Foundation Routine for Dark Skin 2016

TONYMOLY Face Mask Overload!

I think I might have a new obsession... Korean face masks!! What drew me to the TONYMOLY face masks in particular has to be their unique and cute packaging. You automatically know what flavor of mask you are getting my looking at the front of the packaging, where you'll find a large cartoon-like picture.

The first mask I tried from this line was the Nutrition Avocado mask I automatically fell in love, because of how simple the mask was to use, and I could not stop laughing at how ridiculous my best friend looked in them.

On the top of each mask, you can see what type of treatment you will be getting from it. These masks are absolutely fool-proof, because they leave behind no mess, and they are so much fun to use.

Although the directions are in Korean, there are pictures that indicate the proper steps to take when using these masks.

Normally, these masks retail for $3.00 each at ULTA, however I came across a bulk of them for $10.00 on Amazon! What an amazing steal! Of course I had to buy them, and lucky for you all, I linked the masks in the "SHOP THIS POST" section below!

Favorites of 2015: Haircare and Skincare

Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip Try-on Haul | Swatches on Dark Skin

I recently got my hands on this amazing The Body Shop Seaweed skincare set, and I am super excited to share it with you all! I have been really into skincare and getting my skin back to the way it was in my teenage years.

This set comes with 4 products that are sure to "balance your skin and control shine with TSA-approved Seaweed favorites featuring wild-harvested seaweed from Ireland." You get a Deep cleansing facial wash, clarifying toner, night treatment, and day cream.

The Body Shop team states, "Our wild-harvested seaweed comes from our fantastic Community Trade partner in Ireland, the Roaring Water Bay Seaweed Cooperative. Bladderwack is a type of brown seaweed that grows on the northern Atlantic and Baltic coasts of Europe. It has the largest trace mineral content of any known single source of seaweed and contains high levels of iodine, antioxidants and vitamin B. Because it is grown without chemicals or fertilizers, it is safe to use on any skin type or at any age to help control shine."

What I love most about this set is that it is travel friendly, in that it comes in a cute bag. This makes it super easy to pack, rather than rummaging through your cabinet.

I'm looking forward to my results with this product, and I will definitely keep you all updated!

This is a Bonnie Winterbottom inspired Holiday look that I came up with (really late at night LOL). If you watch How To Get Away With Murder, you know who Bonnie is, and what her character is like. If not, "She appears sweet and kind, the perfect counterpart to Annalise, but she will show her claws when you least expect it. As Annalise's dedicated associate, Bonnie works around the clock to do all the behind-the-scenes casework, as well as help guide the students. Though she may reprimand Frankabout his questionable decisions when it comes to his personal life, she is his biggest ally and protector. Besides, Frank knows that Bonnie has secrets too." (Bonnie's bio) I love her signature makeup look, and I think it is perfect for a holiday party or a family get together!

It's Halloween time, and this year I decided to film a tutorial! I initially did not know what I wanted to do, and then I came across some images of Wednesday Addams and instantly got inspired! When you picture Wednesda Addams, you see pale skin and french braids. However, my skin is not pale, so doing this tutorial would definitely set me apart from the rest! Wednesday didn't wear any makeup in the movie or the show, but if she did I'd imagine that it would be dark and bold, like the look I've created here. There are more tutorials to come, so be on the lookout!
Removing my makeup is the part of the day I look forward to. I get a sense of great relief being barefaced at the end of the night as I lay in my bed. I also love the way my skin feels after I have washed and moisturized it. Below are the products that I use to effectively remove my makeup and moisturize my skin. I only need and use four products, which is time and cost effective!

My first step is to remove as much makeup as  I can with my Neutrogena makeup remover face wipes. These wipes pack a punch, in that they remove about 90% of my makeup, and all I need is one wipe!

I then go in with my Olay Active Botanicals gel cleanser to remove the makeup that the makeup wipes missed. This product does a great job of breaking up the makeup on my skin. after I have used this, my skin feels squeaky clean! (Check out my blog post on this product.)

After my face has been cleansed, it is begging for moisture, so I follow up with my ELF Soothing Serum. This product is packed with moisture, which is just what my skin needs after the natural oils have been washed away from my skin. (Check out my blog post on this product)

Lastly, I spray my face with the Mario Badescu facial spray. This pray is a refreshing, hydrating mist to use anywhere anytime. It is formulated with fragrant Herbal Extracts and Rosewater for a pleasant, pick me up for dehydrated, tight and uncomfortable skin. This facial spray is safe for all skin types, gentle, and non-irritating.

All of these products work together to create the best makeup removing regimen for me, and my skin can definitely tell the difference!

If you've seen my Influenster Homecoming Voxbox YouTube video or blog post you'll know that I received the Olay Active Botanicals refreshing gel cleanser. I was super excited to try this product out, because I love all things skincare! Olay is a brand that we are all familiar with and it can be found in just about any store you see.

According to the Olay website, "Active Botanicals Refreshing Gel Cleanser washes away impurities, leaving skin clean, fresh and looking radiant without over drying. Formulated with Snow Mushroom, the facial cleanser leaves skin healthy-looking and glowing with natural vitality. The lightweight formula cleanses, leaving skin healthy-looking and glowing, without over drying. Snow Mushroom is a naturally-derived botanical traditionally used for centuries by women in China. Snow Mushroom is known for its powerful ability to hold up to 500x its weight in water."
To use this product all you have to do is gently lather the product on your hands before massaging onto your face. Before I did that, I made sure to remove as much of my makeup as I could with my Neutrogena makeup remover cleansing towelettes. I used the gel cleanser to remove what I missed with the makeup wipes. As I was washing my face, I noticed that the facial wash was quite cooling to the skin, and it had a light, clean smell. I love facial products that have a mild smell, because this means it will be mild to my skin, which prevents breakouts.
After washing my face with the Olay Active Botanicals gel cleanser, my skin was noticeably smoother and it felt super clean!  I topped it off with my E.L.F. Soothing Serum, and got ready for bed. When I woke up in the morning my skin felt great, as if I had just cleansed it! My nose has always been a problem area for me. It peels pretty badly in the winter, because that's when my skin is the driest. This product has made my nose feel so smooth, and it looks shinier. The Active Botanicals gel cleanser retails for $5.99, which is a steal, so I suggest you go pick one up to try for yourself!

FTC: I received the Olay Active Botanicals in the Influenster Homecoming Voxbox. I was sent this product complementary for testing purposes.

As we already know, I am obsessed with makeup, and with new launches in the cosmetics industry it can be a struggle to stay on trend (if that's what you're into)! I have been collecting some new makeup products to enhance my collection, but I didn't buy all of these items at once! I'm still a college student you know! I knew I wanted to pick up some items from Colourpop Cosmetics, because their Ultra Matte Liquid Lipsticks have been all over the blogosphere! I also went into ULTA (my personal favorite), Mac, and ELF Cosmetics. Some of these products mentioned I have featured in a few blogposts (which you can find here and here), so you can see exactly how I feel about these products.

E.L.F. Cosmetics (besides NYX) is one of my favorite affordable makeup brands. The acronym in its name stands for Eyes Lips Face, and they have a wide variety of products for these three features. E.L.F. has been around for quite some time, but they recently decided to expand their brand and come out with a skincare line. I was skeptical at first about trying the skincare line, because I have products that work for me and I wasn't sure if these products (E.L.F.) would break me out or not. After a few months of watching reviews and doing some research, I decided that i should go ahead and try out the soothing serum (just to play it safe).

The packaging if this product is beautiful and more durable than the cheaper products on the website. You also get quite a bit of product in this bottle (1.01 fl.oz/30mL). According to the eyes lips face website, the soothing serum contains purified water and essential nutrients that help lock in moisture to reduce the look of fine lines for glowing, healthy-looking skin. This silky serum infused with skin norushing Jojoba, Aloe, and Vitamin E to sooth and protect the delicate skin area. It's also rich in antioxidants including Shea Butter and Grape.

When I applied a pump of this to the back of my hand, I noticed that I couldn't control how much product comes out. I also felt that this product is very liquidy. Not being able to control the amount of product I use isn't very cost effective, because I do believe that a little goes a long way, and I don't want to run out of this product too quickly. This product doesn't really have a smell, which I don't mind, because fragrances tend to irritate my skin.

I also don't mind the watery texture, because when it is rubbed in, it leaves my skin feeling extremely moisturized and radiant. I normally apply this to my face after I have washed and toned my skin. When I wake up in the morning, my face is noticeably softer, and some of my problem areas are diminishing. The E.L.F. Cosmetics Soothing Serum retails for $12.00, which I think is a great price, and you can purchase it at www.eyeslipsface.com.

I recently took a trip to ULTA with my best friend just to browse around, but being the makeup enthusiast I am, I just had to leave the store with something. One of the items I picked up was the IT Cosmetics Tightline Mascara. I was drawn to this product because of its 3-in-1 technology and the small brush.
According to IT Cosmetics, this product is an eyeliner, a primer, and mascara. It also utilizes an ultra-skinny wand, allowing you to start coating your lashes at their actual root, so you coat black along your entire lash length. If you have sparse or missing lashes, the Tightline brush lays down black pigment along your entire lash line, filling in spare spots, giving you a full beautiful lash line and the look of an eyeliner. I decided to try this mascara out, because there's nothing I love more that big lashes!

(My lashes with nothing on them)
(My lashes with just the Tightline Mascara)

(My lashes with Tightline Mascara and Maybelline Lash Sensational)

Overall, I love the Tightline Mascara! It does a great job of separating all of my lashes and coating them. It lasts all day and it is easy to remove. I purchased the trial size for $10.00, but the regular size is $24.00. I do not think I will pay that much for the mascara, but I don't mind repurchasing the trial size.

I recently received my weekly coupon from ULTA for $3.50 of a $10 purchase, so I had to make my way to ULTA immediately! I was unsure at first about what I wanted to pick up, but I knew that I wanted to increase my brush collection. I made my way over to the Real Techniques brushes and found this enormous powder brush! I am in love with this brush! Not only is it affordable, it works just as good as what you can find in high-end stores. The brush contains "ultra plush bristles and evenly applies powders and mineral foundations for smooth, high definition results!" You can find this brush at ULTA for $9.99

So I recently went through my lipstick collection and picked out some hidden gems, as well as some colors that I can't seem to put down! These colors complement my skin tone and are quite affordable:
1. NYX: Maison
2. NYX: Sweet Pink
3. Jordana: Brick
4. Jordana: Sexy Mauve
5. Jordana: Natural
6. Rimmel: 057 Ravish
7. LA Girl Glazed Lip Paint: Whisper
8. LA Girl Glazed Lip Paint: Whimsical
9. LA Girl Glazed Lip Paint: Tempt

Being the makeup junkie I am, my hands were itching for some new makeup products. I recently went to ULTA, the Clinique counter, and Walmart and I just couldn't help myself!

ULTA: I picked up and eyebrow pomade and brush to take my eyebrow game to the next level. The brush is not originally intended for eyebrows, it is an eyeliner brush, but I do not know how to do my eyeliner with this type of brush, I prefer to do my brows with this type if brush.

Clinique: I've never made a Clinique purchase before, but the girl at the counter was wearing a bright lipstick color that I could not resist! She was wearing a bright orange matte lipstick with flawless skin! I wondered if this color would look as good on me because she was lighter than me and oranges are not in my comfort zone. She picked out a matte orange color for me that was not as intense as hers and I instantly fell in love!!

Walmart: I wanted a new contour powder that did not have any shimmer in it and I spotted this one by Black Radiance! It's a matte dark brown shade that's perfect for my skin tone!

I love lip liners and this color is no exception!! I love this dark brown purpley shade to wear with some of my MAC lipsticks, or to wear on its own!

To go along with that contour powder, I picked up this elf blush brush. I like that it's pointed, so I can get into the contours of my face perfectly!

xoxo, Orasteez

So I finally got my hands on the Bh Cosmetics Galaxy Chic palette after
years of amiration and sitting in my shopping cart! I love the variety of colors in this palette and that the shadows are baked.Being that I have darker skin I will definitely have to use a base on my lids to make the shadows stand out more. I also noticed that some of these shadows can double as highlighters on my cheekbones, which I love!!

Here are the swatches for the shadows, and as you can see, they are super pretty and bright!!

I cannot wait to play with this palette, and look out for a video with some different looks using this palette!

So I recently went to the ELF website, because I wanted to try some new items from them! They were have a deal where if you spent $25 you get free shipping, so I said why not!!? Reviews coming soon!!

This is my best friend Camille. She was on her way to go out with some coworkers but she was unsure as to how she wanted to do her eye makeup.

I used the NYX Dream Catcher Pallete to create this smokey winged out look. To prime her eyes I used theBalm's put a lid on it eye primer. I started by applying the gold shadow to her entire lid. Then I added a shimmery taupe color to the center of her lid. Next I blended out the shadows at the top with a matte taupe color. Lastly, I added the dark brown color to the outside of her lids and winged it out.

Camille added her own mascara and liner to fully pull this look together. She used the NYX marker liner and her electric blue mascara is from Sally's.

On Friday I went to the mall and picked up a few things! Here's what I got!I've beenwanting some high top converse and strappy heels for a long time!
