Food

This past Thursday, I took a trip to my local mall here in Valdosta, and as I was getting ready to leave, I decided to try out the new frozen yogurt place. Menchie's frozen yogurt has a very intriguing appearance with its bright colors all over the walls of the store. They were definitely marketing towards young children and girls when they had this design in mind!

Menchie's has a wide array of flavors across the walls, which can make it quite difficult for a foodie like me to make a decision on what to indulge in. Luckily they allowed me to taste test a few of the flavors. Some of their flavors include peach, vanilla bean, pineapple cake, strawberry, and so many more! I knew I wanted something seasonal, and with flavors like pumpkin and cinnabon, I couldn't resist.

I decided to go for the cinnabon flavor, because cinnabon is one of my biggest guilty pleasures! What I love about this frozen yogurt is that they make their flavors as healthy as possible. The flavor I chose was low fat, gluten free, contained soy, and kosher. To my relief, this treat is guilty free!!

Menchie's also has a toppings bar fully equipped with candy, fruit, and hot toppings. I didn't want to go all out and put a bunch of candy all of the frozen yogurt, so I put some strawberries and bananas on top. My total came out to $4.00 even, which I think is a great price for the amount of froyo I received.

The flavor I chose tasted exactly like a cinnabon cinnamon roll! I was amazed to how accurate the taste was, and the fruit on top made it taste even better!

The cutest part of my experience at Menchie's had to be the complementary spoon I was given to eat my  frozen yogurt. Look at how cute this little guy is!! The character on top is Menchie, who you can see in the company's logo. When this spoon is placed in the yogurt, it changes colors; how cool is that?!

As you can see I devoured this treat, and I will definitely be back for more!

My best friend and I decided to start fasting for the month of September. This isn't our first time fasting for a month, and since we are going on a trip in December for our "10 Year Bestie Extravaganza," we knew that we wanted to be in tip top shape for our tropical holiday! The rules of the fast are:
1. No fast food
2. No junk food
3. No sugary drinks
4. No sweets
5. No fast food
AND.....
6. Alcohol only 2 times a week (which we do anyways)

The last time we did this fast, we felt so much better and we lost a lot of weight. However, we set ourselves up for failure when the fast ended, because we ate all the foods we missed for those 30 days in one sitting! This time we know to ease back into the foods we love, and possibly eat them less.

This is what I ate for lunch (yes, I know I forgot to eat breakfast!). I had a turkey and ham sandwich with provolone cheese and mayo. I got some peanuts on the side for some extra protein. To go with this I got a salad with cheese green onions, bacon bits and balsamic vinegar.

This is what I had for dinner. I've got some sausage, boiled carrots, Alfredo pasta, and potatoes, which was very filling!

I still haven't mastered this fasting thing, but I'm learning as I go, and i'm excited to see the changes in my body!
