On Tuesday, November 15th, Sweet Vicious premeired on MTV, and I was here for every second of it. I began noticing the advertisments for the show, while watching some of my other favorite programs. At first glance, noticed 3 of my favorite qualities in television: comedy, a cause, and 2 female leads. I knew that this was going to be a show worth watching. Sweet Vicious is about 2 college students (Jewels and Ophelia), who also happen to be vigilantes, out to put an end to sexual harrassment and rape on their college campus. The second episode premeired on November 22nd, and if you are still not conviced to give the show a chance, let me give you a few reasons to tune in:
1. Girl Power!
This show is action packed with girl power and strength. I am an advocate for women using their skills and strengths to make a difference in areas often over looked and dominated by the opposite sex. I guess I have the Spice Girls to blame for that!
Jewels and Ophelia are no punks. The kick butt first and ask questions later, mainly because they already know their victims are guilty!
Numbers like these are scary to come to terms with. Some people choose to ignore the harsh realities of sexual assault, but "Sweet/ Vicious" is here with an in your face message, letting predators know that we WILL NOT stand for this.
There are so many funny moments in this show. Each of the characters bring their own sense of humor, but I have to say that Ophelia is the funniest of the crew. Her quirky comic relief never ceases to amaze me. Paired with that amazing teal hair, she is hands down a breath of fresh air.
4. Brandon Mychal Smith
Look at this gorgeous creature!! He plays Harris, a dedicated law student, and Ophelia's right hand man. I love when shows give me a bit of eye candy throughout the season, and he is just what the doctor ordered!
Also, can we talk about MTV highlighting the racial profiling Harris received, which is sweeping the nation in episode 2!?
Hopefully you guys will give this show a chance, because it is worth it! Now if you'll excuse me, I'm watching episode 3 as I type this!
