"Social media Likes" seem to control today's generation. What I've noticed is girls doing any and everything to have thousands of followers on Instagram. The same thing goes for likes. I believe that this generation cares more about what their followers think of them, rather than their own happiness.
Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with being influential on social media and gaining a large following. This is something I definitely want for myself. However, I do not think it's okay to make this the center of your universe and compromise who you are to be an Instagram celebrity.
It has even gotten to the point where there are special accounts made to increase one's follow count. My question is, why is it so important to have a plethora of followers on social media? I used to want to have all of these followers as well, but I sat back and wondered, what's the importance?
We see celebrities, like the Kardashians, and IG models getting paid to post themselves using different products. A lot of the time they are posing in a risque fashion, wearing less than enough clothing to get their followers to purchase these products that may not even work!
At the end of the day, there's nothing wrong with having a large following, or getting paid for sponsored posts. But, if these posts seem to put you in a compromising situation, sit back and figure out if that is really what you want to do. Why not post positive things that help others and become influencing in that way.
